The skin of the vat is 100 micron FEP film, a flexible, non-stick surface to ensure good release of the printed part from the screen. It is thick and tough enough to last for days of printing time. Two Neoprene gaskets ensure that the vat is totally sealed. The vat film and gaskets can be replaced as necessary to ensure consistent performance from your vat for hundreds of prints.
Two maintenance-free drive units feature in the Liquid Crystal Pro. They use 2mm pitch lead-screws and anti-backlash lead-nuts for precise, repeatable positioning. The extruded rail profile prevents misalignment. Combined, they provide twice the lifting power of the HR

Liquid Crystal Pro Resin Vat
The Liquid Crystal Pro vat body is fabricated from thermally welded 12mm Polypropylene: a tough plastic that is resistant to damage from cleaning chemicals. The top film frame is also Polypropylene. The bottom film frame is 4mm stainless steel and contributes further to the overall strength of the assembled vat. It won’t corrode when exposed to resin, water or cleaning chemicals. The skin of the vat is 100 micron FEP film, providing a flexible, non-stick surface to ensure good release of the printed part from the screen.
The Liquid Crystal Pro print platform is made from 5mm Aluminium tooling plate, bolted to a strengthening frame of 10mm tooling plate. This material is machined to ensure flatness, then cut to shape using a water-jet cutter, avoiding the potential for heat distortion caused by laser cutting. The L brackets are also Aluminium so there are no concerns about corrosion due to contact with resin, water or cleaning chemicals. The print plate is perforated to allow resin flow, ensuring consistent performance in the early layers of each print.
Liquid Crystal Pro VAT Film x5 sheets with gaskets
This pack contains five sheets of 100 micron FEP film, cut to the correct size for your Liquid Crystal Pro vat. We recommend that you re-skin your vat after 400 hours of printing, or if any visible damage is detected. 100 micron FEP film provides a flexible, non-stick surface to ensure good release of the printed part from the screen. It is thick and tough enough to last for days of printing time. Also included in this pack are five vat top gaskets and five vat bottom gaskets
This is the 18.75″ long nose-cone for the 1:32 scale model of the Japanese “Shinkansen 500” bullet train that James Sauter started work on in mid 2010. Spending thousands of hours, personally re-designing every single part himself, using drawings, photos and any other reference materials he could find online to create this highly detailed working train model.. The body of the train is a custom aluminum extrusion, and the highly complex tapered nose-cone was 3D printed by Photocentric on their new large format Liquid Crystal Pro printer. The Solidworks model of the trains nose-cone took James over 2 years of part-time work, to get to the point he was happy with, and ready to print a prototype.
I have been looking to buy a printer for a few months. FormLabs was at the top of my list, due to ease of use. But I hated the fact that the build volume is so small. After doing more research, I learned about DLP and LCD printers, being just as good, if not better than laser based printers, and some faster. That’s when I came across Photocentric. Not only are the printers fast, but they are BIG too !! Something I really needed with an 18″ part. As well as your resins being much more reasonably priced than Formlabs. I also LOVE the replaceable tray film!!! I HATE how Formlabs locks you into “replacing” trays @ $50 ea. So I decided to try out your service to get a good feel for the printers capabilities before possibly buying one myself.
